The Freedom of Coastal Vacations - A Double Edged Sword

When we first get started in Coastal Vacations, we are so thrilled with the idea that we can “work from home”, have the freedom to set our own schedule, have more time with our families, sleep in or take naps when we feel like it, and still earn income. Coastal Vacations gives us that freedom.

And yet, what I have found with myself in the beginning and especially with my new team members, is that same freedom can be a problem for us - it can be a double edged sword.

Many of us who enter network marketing come from an environment of working for someone else.  From the time we start in elementary school, we are told when to arrive, when to eat lunch, when to go to the bathroom, when to leave. In addition, many school systems put children in a position where their self worth is based on the opinion of a teacher, and compared against every other classmate - assigning a “grade” to work assignments and tests. 

Sometimes I believe that a standard public education does nothing more than to program the masses how to become a good “employee”.  We are trained from a very early age to look to someone else to tell us how “good” we are in comparison to everyone else. We define ourselves by the opinion of others, we learn to compete, and we settle into a life of having someone else tell us who we are, how to live, and how to think.

It’s no wonder so many of us struggle with our new-found freedom at first. (more…)
